The lagoon there is shallow and calm: you can wade out around 100 metres before the water reaches your shoulders, which makes it comfortable for children and weak swimmers. Snorkels and a paddle-board are provided in the apartment.

Flic-en-Flac has the longest stretch of public beach in Mauritius and a calm reef-protected lagoon, so it is a common choice for families and first-time visitors. It sits on the west coast, which is the driest and sunniest side of the island, and it has supermarkets, restaurants, dive centres and bus routes within the village. Sunsets face the sea. Le Morne, Black River Gorges National Park and Tamarin are all within a 20 to 40 minute drive.
